This month, Naomi Oldreive, paediatric oncology clinical nurse specialist at St George’s Hospital in London talks about her role as hospital ambassador for Momentum:

“I am the paediatric oncology shared care unit clinical nurse specialist at St George’s Hospital. I have been in this post for almost seven years but have worked in paediatric oncology for nearly 20 years. My role is to support children and young people and their families through their cancer journey and beyond. This covers both their medical needs and their holistic needs.

I took on the role of hospital ambassador for Momentum because families with children in hospital don’t just need medical staff – they need help and guidance from other organisations. I really wanted to be able to share the amazing support that Momentum can give local families. I tell people about Momentum to help raise awareness, refer local families to the charity for support, provide feedback on a range of issues, and have also taken on running challenges to fundraise so they can provide greater support in the future. Everything I do in this role aims to develop the relationship between paediatric services and Momentum.

Over the last few years, I have had the opportunity to work with various people from Momentum and they are amazing.  Giving families the opportunity to have help from one of Momentum’s family support workers is priceless – they really do make a huge difference.”

We can’t thank our hospital ambassadors enough for everything they are doing to support Momentum. Find out more about our hospital partnerships here
