The two friends from Molesey and London have been running the charity event since 2019, setting it up after attending their first Café Bridge event in Guildford and realising it is something they could organise in their local area.

Every year, three Café Bridge events take place on Bridge Road, East Molesey, and it has become a firm favourite in bridge enthusiasts’ diaries. Participants visit up to six cafés along the street where they compete in card games which sees four players, in pairs of two, win tricks. As well as playing the games, people who are part of the event can take part in a raffle and enjoy refreshments at the popular eateries which often include Mada Deli, Henry’s and Istanblu.

Michael Brown, who lives in West Molesey, said: “I first heard about Momentum Children’s Charity when I saw their boat on the River Thames in Kingston, and after learning more about their work in helping local families with children who are very unwell, I decided they would be very deserving as our charity beneficiary. We have been dedicated to Momentum for the past six years and will be with you for as long as there are generous bridge players to support the events.”

A huge thank you to Michael and Victor who have dedicated hundreds of hours to organising Café Bridge – we are so grateful for all your fundraising in the local community and for raising an astonishing amount of money to allow us to be there for families who need us.

The next Café Bridge event is taking place on Wednesday 30th April. Book a place by emailing Michael: michael@cafebridge.org
