Creative Quilting’s comforting support
Little Theo, 10 months, from London, was diagnosed was cancer just a few weeks ago and is being supported by us at Kingston Hospital and at home.
Talking about the quilts that are given to families, Diana, one of our Family Support Workers said: “What is nice about the quilts are that they can be a really comforting to the children, and they often take them with them when they are going into hospital. They are given as a gift to let our families know that we are thinking of them.”
Val from Creative Quilting said: “We have been supporting Momentum since the charity started 20 years ago. One of our customers volunteered for them and she told us about the side effects from chemotherapy treatment and how children really feel the cold, and that’s how it all started. We make three-layered quilts of various sizes with different patterns and themes. Some time ago, we had a sewing event where we donated between 30-50 quilts in one go. We also arranged a day where families could get involved by sewing quilts too. Over the years, we have donated hundreds of quilts – everyone who works in our shop loves sewing and volunteers their time to make these gifts. It is a joy to be able to give some comfort to children supported by Momentum.”
Thank you to everyone at Creative Quilting, your continued support means so much.
