The route saw the Under 8s team walk around Ardingly, where they took in some of the local sights, before finishing at Hepstead Hall for a celebratory party.

The team picked Momentum as their charity beneficiary after one of their school friends received support from the charity when he was going through cancer treatment.

Determined to reach their £3,000 fundraising goal, East Grinstead Meads Under 8s football team took to the airwaves, completing a radio interview on 107 Meridian FM, and organised fundraising events, all on top of training for their walk! They have surpassed their fundraising target, with their total currently standing at a very impressive £3,190.

Colin Morrison, the football team’s coach said: “We gave the boys the opportunity to vote for a charity they wanted to support this year. They chose Momentum as it is particularly close to quite a few of their hearts. The boys fundraised at their school gates, on the radio, and arranged a quiz night! They topped it off with the great 5km walk – we are all very proud.”

Caleb Moore, one of the Under 8 players who completed the walk, said: “I always look forward to our Winter Walks – I love being with my teammates and helping with raising money for charity.”

Shaun Moore, the Under 8’s manager added: “I couldn’t be prouder of our Under 8s team coming together in support of such a worthy charity. We are blessed as a group and as a community – it is a privilege to be able to help Momentum in this way and have lots of fun doing it.”

A big THANK YOU to everyone at East Grinstead Meads Football Club – the money raised will help us be there for more families with very unwell children.
