Pebble Power at John Lewis Kingston
Volunteers and staff from the charity were on hand to tell people more about how we support families in the local community. We showcased 23 pebbles which have been beautifully painted by our celebrity supporters to help us raise awareness. We encouraged customers to take part in a game where they could match the pebbles to the name of the celebrity and be in with a chance of winning an impressive Lego set with a whopping 756 pieces, a prize which had been very kindly donated by John Lewis.
Earlier this month, we were invited to John Lewis Partners Dining Room in Kingston, where we talked to their staff about Momentum and invited them to take part in the celebrity pebble game.
We are very grateful to John Lewis Kingston for their support – as many people know, without their generosity, Momentum Children’s Charity simply wouldn’t exist. Twenty years ago, a child in Kingston Hospital needed ice lollies to soothe painful ulcers. The simple request to John Lewis Kingston to donate a small fridge/freezer led to 20 years of future for the charity.
Bianca Effemey OBE, Founder and CEO of Momentum Children’s Charity said: “A huge thank you to Patriona Briggs at John Lewis for working incredibly hard to make these events happen, and of course, for their support all those years ago when I made the ask to them for the fridge/freezer. As we move towards our 21st birthday, we embark on another wonderful relationship with them which I can’t wait to see flourish. John Lewis Kingston are a shining example of how a business can really get behind a local charity who is supporting people in their community.”
Thank you to our brilliant volunteers who helped at the event – we couldn’t have done it without you!
