Red hot! Fire walk fundraiser leads the way
Companies that have offices at the business park were invited to the two-hour fundraiser which happened over lunchtime, raising money for Momentum and another charity called CRY.
The event was organised by Heather Smith Commercial, on behalf of the park’s landlords, LGIM. Clare Pitts, who works for Pilgram’s Food Masters, based at the business park, suggested the annual summer BBQ became a charity fundraising event. Clare very sadly lost her 13-year-old son, Harry, when he died suddenly during the night last summer. The Pitts family have been receiving support from Momentum’s bereavement support team, Echoes.
The main event was a red-hot fire walk and 20 employees, including Clare, faced the barefoot challenge which saw them walk over a bed of hot embers. There was also the chance for people to brave the bricks and take on the Lego Walk challenge! Momentum had a stall where people could find out more about our work and take part in the ‘Throw A Mo’ game.
Talking about the fire walk, Clare Pitts said: “I tried not to think about it too much before the day itself. I’ve never done anything like this before, so I felt really proud. It was fantastic to see so many people take part – what good sports.”
Live music, a pizza van and other fun games ensured everyone had a great afternoon. The event raised an impressive £2,716 which will be split between Momentum and CRY. Thank you to Clare Pitts and everyone at Lotus Park who made this event happen.
