50 boys and girls from Epsom District Swimming Club took part in the challenge which saw them swim as many lengths of the pool at Epsom College as they could in 60 minutes. Samuel managed to complete a remarkable 112 lengths at the exhilarating event. Collectively, the children covered 120km – very impressive!

Samuel wanted to fundraise for Momentum as we are currently supporting his family while his sister Isla, 12, undergoes treatment for Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Talking about the support we have given the family, Samuel’s mum Dimitriya said: “I was introduced to Momentum when I was at my lowest point when Isla was very unwell. Our Family Support Worker, Diana, has been amazing. It is nice to have someone to talk to who understands what we are going through. Diana always checks in on us, whether that is by phone call or text, and it is really appreciated. Isla has just completed her treatment and is in remission – she has been so resilient through everything – she has a great attendance record at school and is in the top sets for all her subjects.”

Dimitriya continued: “Our three children have had painted pebbles from Momentum with images of our lovely dog on – they really cherish these. The charity also recently arranged tickets for us to go to Thorpe Park. My daughter Isla is a real adrenaline junkie, so she loved it – it is an amazing memory of a fun family day.”

Talking about Samuel’s Swimathon, Dimitriya said: “I am very proud of him. There was a wonderful atmosphere at the pool and so many children got involved. A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored the swimathon, including many of Samuel’s classmates at Sutton Grammer School. We celebrated with Krispy Kreme doughnuts for everyone – a very well-deserved treat.”

There is still time to sponsor Samuel for his swimathon event. Visit his fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/dimitriya-robinson-1716458277889
