Our hospital ambassadors’ scheme aims to raise awareness about the partnership with us and highlight the work we do in their hospital and local community.

The scheme has been running for just over a year and our partner hospitals have staff members who have taken on this voluntary role.

As well as spreading the word about Momentum, hospital ambassadors provide us with feedback on different aspects of our work, support campaigns, and encourage their colleagues to get involved in fundraising activities.

Louisa Uwins, Paediatric Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist and Momentum Hospital Ambassador at East Surrey Hospital said:

“I have been in my role at East Surrey Hospital since 2018. Before this, I worked on the children’s ward at the hospital. I feel very privileged to be in this role and to support all the inspirational families we care for. Having worked with Momentum for many years I was keen to be a hospital ambassador to strengthen our relationship further. I have built a good relationship with the team and feel very lucky to be involved with them and the amazing support they give our patients.

“In my role as hospital ambassador, we have continued to develop links, successfully refer patients and educate staff around the support Momentum offers. I have been involved in room renovations at East Surrey which have been funded by Momentum and have been a great success, but my standout achievement would be working with our family support worker from the charity to drive the installation of the end of treatment bell at the hospital.

“We look forward to seeing the family support workers from Momentum every week. Their presence is welcomed into the ward by staff and patients they know and we feel very lucky to have them as part of our team. Kerrie, our family support worker, has supported training days for staff, sharing information on the charity and the referral process. Kerrie continues to support our bell ringing days which signify the end of cancer treatment for children at the hospital. They are always a great moment of celebration for the families, staff and the oncology team.”

We are very grateful to our hospital ambassadors who have taken on this role in addition to their busy day jobs – thank you for your continued support. Find out more about our hospital partnerships here
